The German Bearded Dragon

German bearded dragon is a type of bearded dragon with a specific selected bloodline. It belongs to the Pogona vitticeps species. The German beardie was created and discovered in the North West territories of Australia because of its large characteristics.

Actually the name German does not mean that these creatures came from Germany, it is just that the one founded it are the German herpetologists. In the breeding process, they worked hard to attain larger properties and enhance the beardies size.

They have preserved the natural gene properties a bearded dragon has; naturally, bearded dragon appears to be healthier and larger animals if the breeding is proper.

The German bearded dragons can reach up to 50% larger than the usual regular bearded dragons. And you know what; bearded dragons can lay to a maximum of 60 eggs and a minimum of 40 eggs.

The largest laying record was the German pet beardie of Kevin Dunne that lays 68 eggs. How amazing it was!

Some people might misinterpret these types of beardies as overweight, but actually, the beardie is large in nature and it is not surprising to see them in bigger and robust sizes. Their body does not contain large amounts of fat; it’s just that they have bigger bone structures. The German bearded dragon weight is just in proportion.
